iLibriGuzzini

Light is not only used to read: it can also be read.
ilibriGuzzini is a collection of books published under the supervision of the iGuzzini Study and Research Centre to investigate the various aspects of light, from physical nature to perception.

Light illuminates the world and shows it to us.
We can say that vision, and therefore light, determines the relation with the environment. And the relation with the environment is the first goal of lighting planning.

With this publishing activity the iGuzzini Study and Research Centre intends to contribute to the cultural debate on light, knowing that lighting planning plays a crucial role in working activities, culture, art and relationships between individuals.

More than Vision
“More than vision” is dedicated to the recent discoveries in the world of science which relate to the role played by light and the physiological processes it is capable of triggering in the regulation of hormonal secretions. Anyone who is involved in the architectural sector will also be interested in this topic, because light is increasingly seen as a phenomenon which is closely linked to the general functions of the human body: a well thought-out use of artificial light also improves the psychological and physical balance of the individual.

iGuzzini, since the end of the 1980s, has investigated this field of research and, over the years, both technological solutions and applied criteria have been identified: Sivra.
The book familiarises the reader with scientific principles through the participation of the doctors and researchers who explored these aspects.

The following individuals contributed to the book:

. Mark Rea, director of the Lighting Research Center at the Renssellaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy

. Pasquale Montagna, Neurology Professor in the Neurological Sciences Department at the University of Bologna

. Valerio Chiarini, Director of the Endocrinology Operating Unit at the Maggiore-Bellaria Hopspital in Bologna

. Roberto Piperno, Director of the Rehabilitation Medicine Operating Unit in the Neurosciences Department at the Maggiore Hospital in Bologna and Director of the “Casa dei Risvegli Luca De Nigris”.
