Dedalo Minosse: rewarding top-quality commissions

547 designs, originating from over 36 countries, have been enrolled in the seventh edition of the Dedalo Minosse International Prize for Commissioning a Building.

It is a unique prize as it focuses the attention on the (often overlooked) commissioning party: it is easy to forget that a top-quality architectural creation can only originate from a “meeting of minds” between those promoting it and those designing it.

The official award ceremony will take place on 30th May, at the Andrea Palladio-designed Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza, and will be preceded on 29th May by the round table discussion on “Waiting for the Dedalo Minosse”.

Several prestigious names stand out from the list of commissioning parties: the Archdiocese of Turin, the Fatima Sanctuary, Emergency, WWF, SMEG, BMW, Citroën, Porsche, Pirelli, Benetton, Ferrero and Nestlè. In addition to the emerging designers participating in the event, several architects of worldwide renown will also be in attendance, for example Mario Botta, Richard Meier, Zaha Hadid and Manfredi Nicoletti.

The award-winning designs will be on display at the Palazzo Valmarana Braga in Vicenza, between 30th May and 24th August 2008.
The front of the building and the entire exhibition route will be lit using iGuzzini lighting fixtures.
